We are getting a new cat and I have been reading Ilikecats to find out more about them, since it is years since we had one.

One thing I cant decide about, is whether it is best to keep cats in the house at night, or whether it is kinder to let them out to roam about as they wish?

I would appreciate hearing what others on this Forum think about this.

We have a cat door but it is one of those which can be locked from the inside.

    Thanks everyone.

Whilst I always give my cat free will during the day to stay in or go out, he is always called back in at the end of the night just before I go to bed as I wouldn’t want to be worrying about him whilst I sleep.

But as for cats using other peoples gardens for their toilet needs, there’s not a lot we can do about that as the cat owner. All I can suggest is the old trick my nan has always told me works for her, and that’s to place orange peel in her flowerbeds, which works a charm for her.

    Thanks,
    Nathaniel
